Mary E. Blake Texas letters and documents, 1880 Jul-Sep.

Correspondence and documents relating to Mary E. Blake's land in Runnels County. One letter is on the back of a broadside from the Office of Rankin & Cleveland, Central Texas Land and Tax Agency, Attorneys at Law, Surveyors and Collectors, Brownwood, Brown County, Texas. Dated March 31, 1880, the broadside tells of the fire at the Brownwood Courthouse which destroyed all the land records of Brown County and some of the records for Coleman and Runnels Counties. The letter on the back, dated July 21, 1880, suggests that Mrs. Blake of New Iberia, Louisiana refile her patent and deed for land in Runnels County. Accompanied by a postcard from Rankin & Cleveland acknowledging receipt of deed and patent for Mary Blake's land from Charles E. Butler of Hudson, New York and by copies of the deed and patent, originally dated 1873.
